Press Release

The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, wishes to inform the public as well as members of national and international media as follows:

On Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 8:15 a.m. this morning, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) facilitated the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) in conducting an observation mission to monitor, verify, and report on the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border at Stung Metuk Bridge, located in Thma Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province.

It is important to underscore that Stung Me Teuk Bridge was subjected to an aerial attack by the Royal Thai Air Force on 13 December 2025, during which Thai fighter aircraft carried out a bombing operation that caused extensive damage and resulted in the complete destruction of the bridge, rendering it entirely impassable. It should further be emphasized that Stung Me Teuk Bridge is exclusively civilian infrastructure, serving civilian purposes, and is situated several dozen kilometres from the Cambodia–Thailand border.

Cambodia continues to fully support the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and emphasizes the importance of strengthening its role and mandate to monitor and verify the implementation of the ceasefire and all measures agreed upon between Cambodia and Thailand, ensuring their full and effective implementation. This is essential to promoting transparency, accountability, and mutual trust. Cambodia also welcomes further contributions from friendly countries willing to support these efforts.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirm our firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements. This commitment is made with the aim of ensuring rapid recovery and restoring normalcy, and long-lasting peace and stability.

The public, as well as national and international journalists, are hereby informed of the facts regarding this matter.
